May 2014 Newsletter
Time flies. This is our 2nd Newsletter, and it has been over a year since the first. Our goal is to be part of a grass roots push for creation teaching (consistent with the account in Genesis) to become widely acceptable in our culture. Think about that for a moment. It wasn’t that long ago when most Americans understood that God created us. Certainly a Creator was recognized during the founding of America. The Declaration of Independence states “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”.
In today’s environment, it seems unrealistic for creation teaching to be widely accepted as an alternative to evolution in the public school system and universities, doesn’t it? Would you join us in praying earnestly for just that? If you would like to be a prayer partner with us, please let me know. We NEED those prayers, as this is a vicious spiritual battle. The creation/evolution topic is not a side issue, as it impacts all of us in significant ways. To learn more about why creation matters, please visit teachingcreation.org. Below are some highlights from the past year. The items shown in bold font are those for which prayer is greatly requested.
1. We had the privilege to speak at three separate Adult Sunday School classes in 2013 at the church we attend in Bowie, MD. It was a great experience, and we had a lot of highly positive feedback. We also learned much about how to present the information in the most positive manner.
2. We attended the NCCEC (National Capitol Christian Education Conference) Sunday School Conference in January. I had the privilege of working the display for Creation Ministries International (CMI, creation.com) with whom we have partnered, while the COO of CMI presented to the conference attendees.
- I was able to introduce those who stopped by the booth to the ministry of CMI, and encourage them if interested to speak to their church leaders about having a speaker from CMI come to their church.
3. Providing monetary support to 'Jo Ellen' who runs an adult literacy program in California. She shares the gospel with the students there, and is also involved with evangelism on the local Community College Campus. Her team distributes gospel tracts and the “Evolution vs God” DVD.
- Souls are being reached regularly through this ministry.
- Would you consider making a donation to Jo Ellen so that her team will continue to be equipped with essential tools?

- We highly recommend the following DVDs, and will gladly purchase a copy for anyone you know who is interested: “Evolution vs God”, “Why Genesis Matters”, ”The Ultimate Proof of Creation”, “Creatures do Change, But It’s not Evolution”.
5. The author of a book focusing on teaching the basics of the creation/evolution debate geared toward middle school age children, as well as sharing the gospel, reached out to me to review the book prior to finalization. We have partnered together to more effectively share the truths with those we come in contact with.
6. We continue to seek avenues to reach pastors and Christian educators in Maryland and across the country with the importance of teaching Biblical creation as a foundation to defend the faith in our increasingly secular culture.
- Pray that doors will open up for our outreach to reach church leaders across the nation. Equipping the Church at large is a key to our vision for spreading the Biblical truth of creation and the gospel, to a lost world.
7. Preparing to speak to teens at ‘Youth For Christ’ in Pasadena, MD this summer.
- The draft version of the talks has been prepared. We are making final arrangements for the time and place of the talks.
- This is a very exciting development because the teens who attend YFC typically attend the local public school, so this is a great avenue for making an impact there.
- We will continue working with the leadership at YFC to see if there are additional sites where creation talks can be given. YFC reaches thousands of teens and has 175 chapters across the nation. Please pray.
8. Preparing to speak at the monthly ‘Meet Your Maker’ event in Bowie, MD
- ‘Meet Your Maker’ will be a monthly event hosted by Maker Ministries. It is a ministry targeted to teenagers and young adults (but open to all ages, including young children with appropriate parental supervision) that have an innate curiosity about the world around them and have a desire to create things for the joy of learning and making.
- We are preparing to support the local Makers group that plans to meet about once per month starting in 2014. Prior to the project each month, we will begin with a creation talk that is relevant to the project, to point to the ultimate Maker of us all, God Almighty. This has high potential for reaching the un-churched. Please pray.

TC January 2013 Newsletter
Welcome to the first newsletter from “Teaching Creation”! We are amazed at what God has done since the idea for the outreach was sparked just 2 months ago. We are extremely encouraged by many who are praying for the ministry and sense your enthusiasm and interest. Here are some highlights from the past 2 months:
1. Created missions statement. (Click here for the full missions statement).
2. Contacted several creation ministries to gain insights and guidance. We continue to be in touch with them, and are brainstorming ways to work together to be even more effective. In particular Creation Ministries International (CMI), a large creation organization, was very willing to help us and provided some valuable insights. We are looking forward to hearing a speaker from CMI when he is speaking in the area next month.
3. We found resources that enabled us to learn some key creation points and begin sharing them with others. We were amazed to see how important creation is to equipping the youth, and ourselves, for defending the foundations of the Christian faith in our culture. We were also amazed at the amount of excellent scientific resources available on creation from a Biblical perspective.
a. Signed up for daily news from Creation Ministries International (creation.com).
b. We discovered that very few ministries are currently targeting the schools with the truth of creation and the science supporting it.
c. Continue researching multimedia available to determine how to most efficiently disseminate the heart of the creation message to the schools.
4. Purchased 20 copies of the DVD “Creatures Do Change, But It’s Not Evolution”, to distribute to private schools at no charge to them. We are grateful beyond words that a donation to our outreach fully covered the cost of these DVDs, plus more.
5. We began contacting private Christian schools in MD, offering them the “Creatures Do Change…” video and asking them how we can best support them. A school in Catonsville immediately took us up on the offer and we are also in the process of arranging for a creation speaker from Creation Ministries International to speak at an upcoming chapel service at the school. Praise the Lord for this encouraging response!

Created this TC website (teachingcreation.org) focused on reaching out to churches and interested schools with resources to help them teach the truths of creation, and point all to our awesome Creator (Isaiah 40:21-26) and the gospel. The site has already been very helpful in opening many doors to sharing creation with others.
7. We look forward to attending the National Capital Christian Education Conference at the Baltimore Convention Center on January 26th to pass out information on our outreach, and see what other doors God may open from those we meet there.
