Does Creation Matter?
Creation is a key topic of our day. Is there anything more foundational to the meaning of life than how we got here? For if we are merely products of evolutionary chance, then we set our own rules; but if God made us and has a plan for us then there is more to life than this one.
Today's mainstream media, textbooks, and classrooms promote the theory of evolution, and exclude the scientific support for creation. So the majority of us (including myself in years past) go without understanding that many assumptions made in evolution are being disproved, and without knowing that the biblical account of creation is supported by objective scientific study. From a purely educational standpoint our youth are in great need of excellent training in science and they deserve to know the truth. But this goes much deeper. So much exposure to the false naturalistic (evolutionary) explanations of life, coupled with so little exposure to the truths of creation are impacting Christians and our culture. When we fail to understand deep within us that God is supreme over all because he is the Creator of all, we miss out on proper worship and much of the power of God in our lives. Creation is the foundation (Genesis 1:1), and it is in Genesis that we learn a Savior would come to redeem fallen man (Genesis 3:15). Now that seems to be about as important as it gets.
There are many who think that the evolution theory and biblical creation are compatible. So while I do not agree with that position, we understand these are personal decisions that each of us must make for ourselves. Raising these topics is one of the key intents of this website. To share information with you, in a way that you can discover truth on your own. So please, if you are not sure where you stand on this issue, or if you think evolution and the Bible are compatible then study all you can from the links on this site and dive deep. Let's Get Equipped and Share the Truth
For youth (and adults) in Christian homes of all types the consequences of an evolutionary belief system are often dramatic, and that should not come as a surprise. According to a recent study, 2 out of 3 Christian teens stop attending church when they leave home. Far too often, when our youth trust evolution they begin to doubt what the Bible says in Genesis and the biblical account of creation. Surveys indicate it is these doubts about the truth of Genesis and creation that lead to the departure from the Christian faith for many. The doubts about Genesis lead to doubting other areas of the Bible as well, and they either miss much of the power of God in their lives, or worse yet, turn away from their faith. Let's equip ourselves and the next generation with the truth so they can think for themselves, and stand strong when faced with false theories of all types. And as we learn more about creation from studying the Bible and the world, let's give all praise and honor to the Creator who made all that is in heaven and earth (1 Chronicles 29:11).
And Christians of all ages need to be equipped to answer the questions of our day and give a reason for the living hope given by God (1 Peter 3:15). Understanding biblical creation, and how it answers the common questions of our day will increase your faith and your outreach effectiveness.
One last comment here that I believe is imperative to mention, because it highlights the importance of the creation topic: At the heart of evolution is an undirected, purely natural process which ultimately excludes the need for a Creator God. You may find this statement surprising, but I encourage you to consider it further. You can see our 'Excellent Resources' and 'Featured Articles' pages for references to learn more, or send us your questions via email.
